Room Upgrades
You may remember that a bit over a month ago I showed you the results of my room redecoration (check it out here if you missed it). Well, I’ve made a few more changes since then that I’m very pleased with. Some are pretty obvious, but one may be a little harder to spot at first. As you can see I’ve added a third Ljusdal shelf from Ikea – getting it to sit in line with the one to the right of it was a pain – to spread my figures out and accomodate for more, and I’ve also set up some LED lights (also from Ikea, called Dioder) which I think give the room a much nicer atmosphere. I do still use the ceiling light, but the LEDs compliment it nicely with a much whiter light over the desk and from behind the TV. At night or when watching/playing something on the TV, I use just the LEDs alone which gives the room a comfortable, relaxed amount of light.
The last of the obvious upgrades is my new chair, which I got for Christmas. I used to have one similar to it, but one of the arm-rests broke off so I had to use the somewhat ugly brown-ish one that was in the previous photos of my room. The new one is much nicer and more comfortable than that one, although the downside of a chair with arm-rests is that it’s more awkward to play guitar in – not good when I’m sitting at the computer trying to learn a song from tabs. The final major new addition to my room is probably too hard to spot in the first pic, hidden in the shadows, but this might make it a little clearer:
I bought a PS3 Slim. They should probably call it PS3 Slimmer-Than-Before-But-Still-Kinda-Big as rather than being truly slim, they’ve just managed to get it down to roughly the size of an Xbox 360, but it’s definitely a nicer-looking model than the original. So why did I buy a PS3 now? Well, for a long time there just wasn’t enough exclusives that interested me to warrant owning one as well as a 360, but things are picking up a little on that front now. I’ve been playing Valkyria Chronicles – long one of the few games that made me wish I had a PS3 – and that alone has justified the purchase, but I’m also really looking forward to Heavy Rain next month and a fair few more games beyond that.

Nice setup, epically neat compared to mine. A PS3 slim is good, I honestly wouldn’t mind getting one. Now you won’t have to worry about getting something to play blu-rays for when stuff like EVA 2.0, UBW Movie and Nanoha movies come out. You can even revert to the classic anime movies too as they would look awesome on that screen.
The speakers look awesome, what brand? I’m looking for a pair of something like those for when I move back to Sydney.
I feel that your room is better organized than before. Or maybe its just the shadows hiding the minor details compared to the other pics which were much brighter.
Oh yeah nice little Dr Zoidberg, adds a nice little western touch to your desk
I actually already had a blu-ray player! I still use the standalone rather than the PS3 as it’s more convenient and, from what I’ve read, a better player in some regards. Anime does indeed look great on that TV, both on blu-ray and upscaled on DVD. I’ll be doing more specific “anime on blu-ray” features/reviews soon. ^^
The speakers are Panasonic: this set to be exact. I bought it for a fair bit cheaper than RRP, and that was quite a while ago. I think they sound pretty good for the price, and if you can get the wireless unit for the rear speakers free like I did it’s very handy.
The room might look more organised because there’s less both on and below the desk. ^^;
I’m glad you approve of Zoidberg! I’m sure some people would think he’s out of place amongst all that anime stuff, but Zoidberg transcends all boundaries with his greatness.
Wow, i actually had a dream that my room would be like this one day! Love the layout!
haha, really? Well I’m glad you like it!
Yeah chances are the standalone blueray player you have beats the PS3 as usually inbuilt players tend to fail badly against standalone. I remember owning a Ps2 *shudders*, that huge TV must be awesome for watching anime, you can enjoy Thora’s rips to the max with it.
O’ve still yet to save up for a PS3, it will be a while before I get one though
As Zoidberg would say “Hooray for Zoidberg!”
I have indeed watched a few ThorAnime rips on the TV. I discovered that site at around the same time my ISP hugely increased my download quote, which was great timing haha.
PS3 huh? Since you already own the awesome Valkyria Chronicles I say get Demon’s Souls if it’s available to you.
Demon’s Souls is definitely on my list of games to get for PS3!
Nice room upgrade. That’s great
Looks cool ^^
Funny you bought a PS3 with the same first game as i did … few month ago lol
Valkyria is an awesome game, really awesome and i don’t regret a second from buying it.
It’s very clean anyway
That is a coincidence! I’m loving it as well. Amazing game.
