Figure: Haruhi Suzumiya Gekisou Ver.

I like Haruhi and I like guitars, so this figure was a bit of a no-brainer for me. The trick was finding one that was a reasonable price as this figure seems pretty hard to come by these days, but I managed to get lucky on eBay with a trustworthy seller. Sculpted by Masanori Kuroda for Max Factory, it’s based on artwork that was used to promote a live Haruhi concert event. Max Factory released two other figures in the set: Yuki Nagato and Mikuru Asahina. I’m not really a big Mikuru fan so I doubt I’ll bother getting all three, but after seeing how good the Haruhi figure is I wouldn’t mind tracking down Yuki.

By the way, if you click on the images in this post you’ll be able to see a larger version. I’ll be implementing this with most posts from now on. Back to Haruhi:

Haruhi stands around 20cm tall in 1/8 scale. The detail is astounding, especially her guitar. Love the "real" strings.

Max Factory have done a great job with the ruffles and texture of the skirt.

The asymmetry of Haruhi's outfit creates an interesting look.

The pick in her right hand is a nice little detail. A lot of thought clearly went into this figure.

I was considering replacing her guitar with one of the 1/8 replicas of the limited edition Rei Ayanami Fender Telecaster, but it isn't removable. I don't find much issue with that because the guitar and strap are so detailed and well integrated into the overall design.

I like how Haruhi's necklace sits off her body - it adds motion and dynamism to the pose.

With fixed-pose figures, you sometimes have to make a compromise between how much you like the character and how much you like the pose and design of the figure. There's no such compromise for me in this case, as Haruhi Gekisou Ver. ticks all the right boxes.

First visit on your blog. Title is a very good finding. :)

The most beautiful version, for me of Haruhi. Max Factory perfectly respected the character design and details are amazing.
It’s great that you could get it at an affordable price because she got quickly sold-out and it’s difficult now to find it at a reasonable price.

Well, it pushed the boundaries of “good price” a bit for me, but my limits were probably quite low compared to most figure collectors. I’m very happy I got her, in any case – she’s the best Haruhi figure I’ve seen, too.

      Thanks for visiting! ^^

Everyone’s budget is different, truly. The main thing is that you could but it if its was your dream ;)

Glad to read you, i’m waiting for the next posts :)

Absolutely love this figure, it’s very well done and I think captured Haruhi quite well. I think I have to agree with you, she’s probably the best Haruhi figure out there.

    Nice ^^
I have her from months and she is still great!

Will you buy the rest too?

    • Steve says:

I might get Yuki if I can find her at a good price, but I doubt I’ll bother with Mikuru.

      • Aka says:

I’m the same way. I’m not much of a fan of Mikuru. Though I fear that if I get 2 of the set, I’ll have to get the 3rd for completion sake.

You may be right… but with the scarcity of these figures at the moment it might be easier to resist. Plus, aside from not being a big Mikuru fan in general I don’t like her Gekisou figure at all! It’s surely great quality, but pink dress + tambourine doesn’t do much for me.

          • Aka says:

I hear ya.. it’s just too lame an instrument to even consider. Pink dress I could ignore if she had drums or something I guess. But can you picture Mikuru playing anything but a lame instrument? I can’t.

            • Steve says:

True. As Haruhi said, she’s just on stage as a decoration.

              • GREW says:

                She’s awesome -_-
And full band is better than alone. I don’t regrett to bought her.

                • Steve says:

                  Two guitarists and a tambourine doesn’t really strike me as a full band. Now, if they had Kyon and Itsuki on bass and drums to really make a full band, I might not be able to resist. That would be expensive. ^^;

I’m sure the Mikuru figure is just as good quality as this one, so I don’t doubt that for fans of the character she’d be an awesome buy. I’m just not really into her myself, that’s all.

I love the character and this figure is a true success. I’m not courageous enough to dig website like eBay to find a copy but i don’t buy that much figures and i can’t have them all so ;-)

This Haruhi adaptation is my favorite. I love the set Extravaganza. I prefer Mikuru for her pink color and her dress. But Haruhi rocks ! She is dynamic ! Nice picture, congratulation ^^
